Assassin's Creed Mirage - World FX

Very proud to share the work I did on Assassin's Creed Mirage between 2022 and 2023. In this post I'll cover some of the environmental fx I had the chance to create to add life in the world. The game takes place in Baghdad City, mainly surrounded by desert but also lushes area, so my mission was to create variated effects for theses areas.

VFX for the desert. The rate and intensity of the sand particles are directly linked to the wind intensity. Audible wind guts are triggered with small sand particles on the camera when the wind hit a certain amount.

Sand wind effects are also integrated in the city. We can see some billowing sand on the roofs, reinforcing windy feeling.

I created a lot of effects for the gardens and lushes areas, like insects, bees, or butterflies fleeing when the player get close for example.

Some parts of the desert are more greener than others so I integrated flying debris and leaves accross the area.

I also created falling sand effect to reinforce the climbings moments.

Foggy marshlands are also present in the game. I tried to create more quiet effects to give another kind of mood.
